DAILY LIFE

How We Bring People Together

Connection and community are at the heart of Catfarm. Here, you’ll have plenty of time to talk, laugh, and meet people from all walks of life. At Catfarm, we celebrate diversity in all its forms: gender, culture, nationality, religion, sexuality, beliefs, and beyond. We nurture safe and inclusive spaces where everyone can feel heard, respected, and valued.

We also honor moments of stillness and inner reflection. Those interested in meditation, mindfulness, or healing practices are welcome to offer workshops, guided sessions, or Moon celebrations to deepen the connection with self and the collective.

Everyone is encouraged to share their passions and skills — from upcycling, nutrition, and herbalism to yoga, dance, art, or creative education. Catfarm thrives when people take initiative, express their creativity, and contribute to community life. We love empowering individuals to bring their ideas to life and enrich the collective experience.

“It is a place where a community can thrive, guided by shared values and nurtured through creative collaboration, belonging, love, and dedication.”

Catfarm Seasons

Our day starts with breakfast, followed by the morning meeting, a moment when the whole community gathers to discuss the day’s or week’s activities, share announcements, and quickly organize ourselves before getting to work.

Below, you can learn more about our schedule depending on the season:

Winter

From mid-december on, we pause the volunteer activities and projects. Catfarm is resting.

Spring

In March we start Catfarm activities again welcoming volunteers, ESC’s and starting to prepare and execute the the ERASMUS+ projects that we host.

Summer

More focus in the internal projects and keeping of Catfarm. No Erasmus+ projects. It’s pretty hot weather and we love swimming trips to the beach around.

Autumm

It’s time to Erasmus+ Projects again! We gather our team in the best way and balance the current activities, daily tasks and also fun – why not – with the welcoming and workshops with the participants.

Daily Structure

We strengthen our bonds through sharing and presence. Every morning, we gather in a circle for a moment of contemplation and connection, followed by a short energizer to wake up our bodies and set a joyful tone for the day. Then the day begins!

Everyone in Catfarm works an average of 6 hours per day from Monday to Friday, and helps a few hours during the weekend for collective tasks. Following the rhythm below.

What about the work?

In Catfarm everybody cleans and everybody can cook. Those basic tasks are rotative and we organize through a board.

The tasks below are done by the entire community in shifts during the week.

  • Cooking (breakfast, lunch or dinner)
  • Clean up after cooking – House keeping
  • Market and grocery trips
  • Food sorting (sort the food donated from the market)

Beyond that we have the CIRCLES (groups of work). These circles keep the flowing of Catfarm activities and you can join the circles that you are most interested in. Each circle takes care of something in Catfarm. In your first month, you can explore the weekly meetings, join, and understand the activities that are going on:

⚠️ Guidelines & Policies ⚠️

Before coming, please read through our guidelines and policies and make sure you agree with them!

Even with our fun environment, we take it seriously when the guidelines and policies are not respected. If these policies are broken, it means that some boundaries are crossed and you will be asked for a talk (most likely with Care cats) and, if we understand that it’s not possible to reach an agreement, we might gently ask to part ways.
