What happens when the way we’ve always done things no longer works?
Many of us are asking this question. Whether in communities, organizations, schools or workplaces, traditional models based on hierarchy often struggle to respond to today’s social and environmental challenges. More and more people are looking for ways to build relationships based on trust, participation and shared responsibility.
From October 15th to 24th, 2026, Catfarm, an off-grid educational community in Southern France, will host “From Power to Empowerment,” an 8-day Erasmus+ training course bringing together 38 youth workers from across Europe.
Rather than focusing on lectures, this experience is built around participation. Through the Theatre of the Oppressed, participants will explore how power operates in everyday life, making invisible dynamics visible through movement, dialogue and collective reflection. Theatre becomes a practical tool for understanding conflict, questioning assumptions and experimenting with new possibilities.
Life at Catfarm is also part of the learning process. Participants will experience horizontal decision-making practices such as the Solution Council, sharing circles and self-organization while taking part in the daily life of a regenerative community. Sustainability, cooperation and collective responsibility are not just topics of discussion—they are part of the experience itself.
Throughout the training, the group will co-create a practical handbook of methods, exercises and facilitation tools that can be adapted to different local contexts. After returning home, each participant will be encouraged to organize at least one local activity, helping to share what was learned with their own communities.
