Between May 4 and May 18, 36 young people from the Netherlands, Denmark, France, Italy, Portugal, and Greece gathered at Catfarm in Poussan for the Youth Exchange “Back to Roots.” Immersed in workshops and activities, they explored sustainable living, intercultural understanding, and community values under the guidance of international volunteers, the “Cats.” Inspired by Catfarm’s ethos, they embraced alternative ways of harmonious living, leaving with newfound inspiration and connections to carry back to their home countries.
Like-minded youth explored the topics that bring solutions to climate change like permaculture, natural building and solar energy while connecting and combining these three. We embarked on a journey of seeing a deeper correlation between the Earth and the Sun and diving through the exploration of using these two sources to produce our own food, shelter and generate energy. Participants explored eco-living by learning about other solutions to environmental problems and more sustainable lives.
The exchange fostered a vibrant community where participants not only learned from expert facilitators but also from each other’s unique experiences and perspectives. Through collaborative projects and shared responsibilities, they discovered the power of teamwork and collective action in addressing environmental challenges. As the exchange draws to a close, we are inspired by the passion, creativity, and dedication demonstrated by each participant. We are confident that the seeds of change planted during this exchange will continue to flourish and bear fruit in the years to come.
This project was part of the ERASMUS+ program, a flagship initiative of the European Union dedicated to education, vocational training, youth, and sports. Established over 35 years ago, ERASMUS+ has become a cornerstone of international cooperation and exchange, fostering mobility, cooperation, and excellence in education and training across Europe and beyond.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the participants, facilitators, volunteers, and partners who contributed to the success of this program. Together, we have sown the seeds of a brighter, more sustainable future.
Stay tuned for updates on upcoming projects and initiatives as we continue to cultivate change, one community at a time.
